Photos of People

Around 2015, I started getting into photography.
In part, this was a way to combine my long-time interest in art
with the neighborhood engagement and ethnography I was doing
in New Orleans and elsewhere.
It was also a good way for me to talk shop with my daughter,
who is a professional photographer! I'm having a great time with it.

On this page is a portfolio of photos of people.
There are pictures from New Orleans neighborhoods and events,
as well as practice photos of friends and students.
The most recent are at the top.

The color photos are digital.
The black & white photos are film, 35mm or medium format.
During the Covid pandemic, it wasn't feasible to visit neighborhoods,
so students were very kind to let me keep in practice by photographing them.

See here for my "Neighborhood Portraits" project.

And my university used my photography as the cover story
of their annual magazine, LSU Research, here.
